Below are some videos that have been recently made to help with the understanding and instruction in the classes. There are different videos for different things. All of the information is useful, depending. Enjoy.
This is a tutorial on the three pen & ink shading techniques taught in Art 1 (plus one that is just fun).

I am not sure why I keep adding things to my workload - other than the fact that I am crazy and adore all of you students - but I was just reading about this service called Remind101 where I can set up groups and text out reminders/messages. Apparently it is totally private so that I don't have your phone numbers and you don't have mine. This is good, yes. We will try it and see how it goes.

If you're one of the able and willing to go on the Europe field trip with us next year, you can access the EF login page by clicking on the above image/link.
The town of Los Gatos has put out a call for entries to create some new banners for downtown. You can access the link for this information here, or you can get the information from the class blog - which ultimately will lead you to the same site anyway. Note, you'll need to open the pdf at some point in order to know what to do. It's a great opportunity for recognition and exposure, btw.

Europe Trip
Thank you to everyone who came to class last night, 1/18, for the meeting with the EF rep regarding the Europe field trip for next year, Apr. 2013. By my estimate there are currently about 9-10 students signed up so far. The program cost will remain set until Feb. 28 because of current sign up numbers.
My next task is to get the official ok from the school board, and then to fill the rest of the spots, and then to seriously get down to brass tacks with students and parents alike regarding fundraising.
As always, check the blog for more updates, and ask me if you have questions.
Below is kinda sorta what I had in mind in thinking of adverts for the art class. Kinda cheesy images couples with (possibly) cheesier text. Really just a way to catch someone's attention quickly.
Out with the old and in with the new.
A very small sampling of the oils that have come in lately. Look for more in January in both the guidance office and in the Los Gatos Town Council Chambers. Oh, wait, what is that you say, El Gato, too? Possibly, quite possibly.
Great News on the publishing front ...
Two of our class of '10 LG art grads helped a local resident, Thomas Procter, with some illustrations for a book he had written and it is now available for purchase. The book is called: The Discovery Machine and is available from Amazon or Barnes & Noble.
p.s. way to go Joleen and Ariel! Awesome!

So the above listed site technically doesn't "exist" yet, but it will. At some point. We are setting up a site to make some of our efforts available for sale, and while it's a slow process, it is happening. Obviously it would have been good to have this done by now, but oh well. Sometimes we're all just slackers ... either that or we're busy making art for class assignments ... or something like that. You know, "learning" and stuff. But check back here, and there, often for updates. Word.
The JDRF walk in San Francisco on Oct. 30th, 2011 was a blast. Thanks, Savannah, for being an awesome person and awesome organizer!
Clicking on the four images below will take you to the appropriate galleries where those images can be located. Two are from this year, two from last - there are more to be seen, and these are the newest additions to the site galleries.
I guess it's time to put this "out there." I have a personal project for the year - one of many, actually - to take a class related photo every day with my cell phone and upload it to a flickr account. So that's what the link above is. Check Check One Two One Two
